On November 20th, 2007, the Village of Port Credit was heartsick to hear the devastating news of the untimely passing of Dave de Eyre, a pivotal member of the community. Born in Toronto and growing up in Grenada, Dave became an accomplished Yachtsman. Dave's love of boating and appreciation for Blues and Jazz led him to navigate the Southside Shuffle to new levels. As an industrious member of the Shuffle Board of Directors, Dave was instrumental in the acquisition of new sponsorships, grants and the development of our VIP area, and are only a few of the results of Dave's involvement. His generosity and kindness were continuously offered to assist and support where ever and to whomever was involved with the festival. The Southside Shuffle was one of many community volunteer contributions for Dave de Eyre. A previous Board Chairman for the Port Credit Business Development Association and Mississauga Waterfront Board of Directors. Dave was also a Port Credit business owner, Clift's Marine located in the Port Credit Marina. Truly, the Southside Shuffle, the Village of Port Credit and all who knew Dave have suffered a tremendous loss. The warm smile, love of people, zany sense of humour, wisdom, experience and intelligence, are all qualities of an exceptional human being. Someone many are proud to have called a friend. Thank you Dave de Eyre, for touching the lives of so many and making a difference.
